(trainee) Cognitive Behavioural Therapist (Changing Minds) & Business Development

David holds an MSc in Psychology and is a trainee Cognitive Behavioural Therapist working within the Clinical Psychology team at Changing Minds. David’s clinical work has predominately been within services for young people, families and adults with complex needs, whilst also supporting the psychological needs of organisations and individuals within business and elite sport environments. Alongside his role as a clinician, David is business development manager of 19 Wilson Patten, a wellbeing and business centre in central Warrington.

David has competed psychological assessments and formulation alongside delivering psychologically informed interventions with children, young people and adults. He often delivers therapy primarily within a cognitive behavioural framework, but also uses an integrative approach incorporating other therapeutic approaches such as Mindfulness, Compassion Focussed Therapy and DBT skills. He has also supported the delivery of training on topics such as brain development, attachment behaviour and developmental trauma. David has delivered psychological services within the business environment that has focused on a variety of wellbeing and performance needs. This has included individual therapy and wellbeing training for employee’s alongside bespoke performance workshops focused on improving team functioning, communication and developing resiliency. David has supported work within elite sport environments including the psychological profiling and support planning of developing athletes at GB rowing, canoeing, skeleton and weight lifting. David has previously spent 3 years working as an Assistant Psychologist for Changing Minds and has a wider background experience as a service manager in a residential and community outreach provision for homeless adults. David is due to receive his BABCP accreditation in Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapies (PGDip) from Bolton university in January 2020.
