SPEAKERS*

We will have up to 6 speakers, with names being released from December to March.

Carinthia Westthe woman with a camera focused on life in the 70’s

Carinthia West is a 70’s IT girl, model, actress, photographer and journalist, whose credits include Marie-Claire, Harper’s and Queen, Harper’s Bazaar, Tatler, the LA Weekly.

A self-confessed free spirit and accompanied by her ever-faithful Canon camera, she photographed some of the 20th century’s most iconic names in music, film and society in the UK and US. She was also an original proponent of the selfie – in case anyone thought generation X had invented the concept!

Muse to rock icons and friend of the stars, her visual diary over the years captured friendships and intimate moments as she “hung out” with the likes of Mick Jagger, Ronnie Wood, Helen Mirren, David Bowie, George Harrison, Carly Simon, Anjelica Huston, Robin Williams, Neil Young and Paul Simon, to name a few.

We all love a story; stories embellished with pictures bring the moment to life. Now in her 70’s, Carinthia will join us to share pictures and memories, her views on growing old gracefully, and secrets to success and happiness as a woman which include courting serenity, avoiding stress and practicing curiosity.

Jeannie France-Hayhurst – High Sheriff of Cheshire

Jeannie has practised as a barrister for most of her professional life and is now High Sheriff of Cheshire, a position which brings together her knowledge of the Law, her respect and admiration for all of the blue-light services, her passionate commitment to her county and her recognition of the work of all those amazing individuals who improve life in their respective communities.

She has broad experience of the worlds of politics, academia and health, and serves as a director on a number of boards in both the public and private sector. Her current focus has been on the performing arts and the enormous benefits brought by participation, especially by children and young people.

She has a busy family life which includes eleven grandchildren, a couple of dogs and a demanding garden. If she gets any precious time off, she loves swimming, sailing and skiing and is very happy either meeting-up and catching-up with friends or simply curling up with a good book or a riveting thriller on TV.

Christine Marshall – from trained nurse to comedy and drama script-writer, magistrate and gregarious hermit

Christine is an award-winning comedy and drama TV, radio and stage scriptwriter, currently contracted to Hat Trick Productions. Her career history has been varied and has also seen her become one of the three youngest people to achieve an OU degree and a thirty-year commitment as a magistrate.

Christine trained as a nurse in the 1980’s then went on to medical school, do agency work in factories in the holidays, and write an Afternoon Play.

Two significant departures then occurred: She left medical school as her husband felt neglected. And she left her husband after coming across the true love of her life.

She has a Masters in Radio and TV screen writing, and has a string of script writing accolades

Christine now lives alone since the death of the love of her life and describes herself as a gregarious hermit.

Be prepared to be entertained – possibly with the odd bit of blasphemy – as Chris joins us for some stand-up comedy at IWD 2023

EVENT ORGANISERS:

KTS Women in Business is a collaborative project between three of the most renowned networking event organisers in the North West, who have been referred to in the regional press and by attendees as the ‘Queens of Networking’, the ‘Three Amigo’s’ and the ‘Backbone of Networking’ in Cheshire and Manchester.

Kirsty James, Tricia Peters and Sue France (KTS) each run their own networking groups comprising over 30 years of experience organising business and networking events. Between them, they have helped hundreds of people to connect and grow their businesses and they are responsible for thousands of pounds worth of business in the region. They do this by facilitating the right introductions and also by providing events, workshops and seminars to increase the knowledge of their attendees.

Although each of the ladies has their own unique brand and their individual style of bringing people together, their core message is the same. They know that, although social media is a fantastic tool for business development, nothing beats direct communication via events and building up a business relationship gradually.
