Open networking plus a presentation on best practice advice regarding the implications of social media activity on the business.
Our event will begin with the usual opportunities for both open as well as structured networking. In the structured part of the event, we shall then hear from our guest speaker Adelle Hutton of EML (Employee Management Limited) about some of the less frequently discussed implications of social media use within a business.
Presentation:
‘Social Media: Marketing Miracle or Management Minefield. Protecting your business and social media activity’
If you’re using social media in your business, there can be a fine line between business and personal use with extensive implications if it is not monitored and a code of conduct set in place early on. Perhaps you use social media directly as the business owner or perhaps your staff or an outsourced provider represent your business. It’s also not just about the material coming directly out of your business accounts that is important; there’s also the activity in personal time of staff and associates and how that impacts on your business reputation. Does you business have policies or controls in place to monitor the content and ensure it is consistent with your company’s values and what is correct and lawful.
Whilst it is commonly accepted that social media is a marketing must, employers don’t always consider the implications of their employees’ inappropriate personal use of these platforms, e.g. posting offensive or discriminatory comments that can damage reputations and relationships. It is issues such as these that this presentation will consider and attendees will be provided with advice as to what preventative and remedial action they can / should take in this regard.
